Hundreds of quilters have begun descending on Sisters, Oregon, to be buttressed by thousands on Saturday, July 11, as the 51st Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show festoons the entire downtown core in over 1,000 colorful quilts.
Each year, The Nugget Newspaper produces a show guide for the Quilt Show, which means I interview a lot of quilt artists. Invariably, someone will express sympathy for me having to immerse myself in the quilting world, apparently operating on the assumption that a dude whose world revolves around guns and guitars and masculine pursuits must find the fabric arts tedious.
They’d be wrong about that…
